In 2015, The pork shank that was originally a staple of the restaurant was removed from the menu. Since Gaston's Tavern opened it has not seen any major changes, although the menu has been altered over time. The menu is also unique in that it features large cinnamon rolls (similar to those previously found at the Main Street Bakery). Don’t worry, though, as Gaston will stay until the last children have been seen and will still make sure he spends time chatting as well as posing for photographs.

There might be queues to meet Gaston, so it is worth aiming to arrive at the tavern a little earlier than the scheduled time. Gaston's Tavern's menu is notable for its signature beverage 'LeFou's Brew' (named after Gaston's sidekick), a frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with passion fruit-mango foam. Gaston’s Tavern is inside Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. The quick service restaurant is themed to look like a 'comfy lodge in the French countryside, ' and it features numerous tributes to Gaston and his hunting ability. Gaston's Tavern finally opened to guests on Decem. When more information was released in 2011, Walt Disney Imagineering's creative chair Chis Beatty noted of the restaurant, 'It's all about Gaston'. Although very little details were given about the planned dining establishment, it was fairly clear that the restaurant would be a counter or quick service location created as a part of the Fantasyland Expansion. Plans for the creation of Gaston's Tavern were initially announced at the 2009 D23 expo.
